We currently have an outstanding opportunity for aResearch Scientist (Psychometrician) at our facility in Monterey, CA.

You will be responsible for designing and conducting technical studies to support educational achievement tests involving both multiple choice and performance assessments. Studies include tryout analyses and item response theory scaling and equating using partial credit models. You will design and implement specific research studies, carry out subsequent data analyses, and produce reports or professional papers.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Design and carry out research studies under direction of Senior Staff.

Provide technical advice to customers, test development staff, and marketing.

Conduct technical activities to assist customers' professional staff, e.g., standard setting.

Conduct standard technical studies in scaling, equating, test reliability, and test validity, as well as writing the reports for these studies.

Write research papers for internal use, for presentation at professional meetings, and for professional journals.

Be apprised of new research methodologies and technical advances described in current literature.

Requires a Ph.D. or Ed.D. in psychometrics, educational measurement, statistics or a related field.

MUST have proven ability to solve technical or statistical problems.

Qualified candidates MSUT possess excellent communication skills both orally and in writing about technical concepts and the results of research.

MUST have a sound conceptual understanding of fundamental research design.

Scaling and equating experience in the application of item response theory or generalizability theory is highly desirable.
