You must possess a unique blend of business and technical savvy; a big-picture vision, and the drive to make that vision a reality. You must enjoy spending time in the marketplace to understand the emerging opportunities/problems, and find innovative solutions to broaden the market, and interact with all areas of the company, and management. In-depth knowledge of the emerging renewable energy markets and systems design is critical. Marketing/sales and systems integration experience are also important. The Program Planning Manager must be able to communicate with all areas of the company, and senior management. You will work with a Product Manager and an engineering counterpart in the operating departments to provide specifications, performance, cost, and product releases to the market channels. The Program Planning Manager's role is both strategic and tactical. You will provide know-how to define the market strategy, target market, product positioning, value proposition and secure initial key customers. You will be the internal and external champion for your product, working with the Company’s Sales and Marketing organizations as well as with equipment suppliers, as necessary. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES • Develop ideas for new renewable energy products, programs and services. • Conduct feasibility analyses, define program objectives, develop strategies and define successful performance. • Specify market requirements for current and future products by conducting market research supported by on-going visits to customers, OEM’s, and distributors. • Develop program filings by developing written and spreadsheet materials, and support the regulatory approval process. • Provide leadership to drive a solution set across development teams (primarily engineering, legal, marketing communications and large customer contact). • Develop business rules for the programs. • Develop and implement a ‘go-to-market’ plan, working with all departments and resources to execute, including market requirements, product development, market channel development, OEM contracts, product literature, competitive positioning, and field support. • On an ongoing basis coordinate with the NJ Board of Public Utilities and other NJ electric and gas utilities in the deployment of the products and programs. • Conduct periodic program evaluations to assess if programs are meeting their defined specifications and make recommendations to refine tactics. REQUIREMENTS • Engineering degree preferred, but will also consider relevant work experience. • 3-5 years of renewable energy industry marketing/product management experience. • Base is Newark, New Jersey • Some travel to customer and non-customer sites in New Jersey
