Description:Purpose of Position:Designed for college students that are pursuing a bachelor?s degree and have interest in energy generation, transmission or supply. Our goal is to expose the intern to a variety of projects and activities that occur within the utility business. The intent is to give students an opportunity to apply knowledge and skills learned in college and demonstrate abilities in the work place. The position is temporary, non-exempt, part-time/hourly with total hours not to exceed 1000 per calendar year. Provides Support to the Following Positions: Financial analysts, environmental department, energy supply department Primary Job Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Job Functions): Work cooperatively with small generation analysis team including staff from environmental services, generation, and financial services. Work with the analysis team to identify and prioritize alternative energy sources suitable for further analysis. Work with the analysis team to contact sources and gather information necessary for financial, electrical generation, and emissions modeling. Such information includes, but is not limited to, gas production flow rates, gas composition, age of the facility remaining disposal capacity, existing gas management technology and infrastructure, and the potential for combined heat and power projects. Visit the project sites as needed as a part of the data gathering process, including identification of site characteristics that may affect project permitting and implementation. Work with the analysis team to analyze regulatory characteristics of the sources, such as local ordinances and regulations that could impact the project. Develop an information and data template that can be utilized at current and future sites or facilities by the analysis team. Compile the data collected into a format for interface with project analysis models. Work with generation and outside vendors to pair appropriate electrical generation technology with the gas production characteristics of the sources. Develop estimates regarding current electrical generation and future electrical generation potential of the alternative sources. Coordinate with transmission and distribution to determine specifications and modifications for interconnection. Develop requests for proposals for equipment and services from outside vendors. Work with financial services to develop economic analyses of the alternative sources. Work with environmental services to develop estimations of future greenhouse gas credits created by the destruction of landfill methane and other alternative sources. Assist in the implementation of alternative sources to energy projects that meet corporate screening criteria. Note: Please Mention Get Alternative Energy Job when applying
